THE owner of a dog that died after being left tied up on a balcony in the full glare of the sun has been arrested.
National Police are investigating the 27-year-old woman for an alleged crime of animal abuse through gross negligence.
A vet established the cause of death as “suffocation by strangulation caused by the twisting of the leash with which he was tied.”
An exacerbating factor to the death was heat stroke, said National police. The animal’s owner was arrested and later released with charges.
During the incident Local Police called in the fire brigade to rescue the dog after being unable to enter the property in Zaragoza. But by the time they reached the pet with a hydraulic platform it was too late.
