New tax office plans to be approved Credit: Twitter
THE CITY COUNCIL will approve plans on Monday (July 29) for the transfer of land to construct a new tax office headquarters. The 1,800 square meter portion of land is located next to the Community Social Services units next to the Carmen car park behind the Town Hall. The reason for the move of the tax office is to provide a more spacious and modern environment for the staff after the old building was criticised for its state of deterioration. The Velez Malaga mayor, Antonio Moreno Ferrer, announced that he would approve the plans and put into motion the licencing and planning works to commence the project as soon as possible. The development of the new headquarters will also include renovation of the surrounding municipal land, including the planting of trees lining the access roads and a new roundabout at the entrance. Ferrer emphasized the importance of the new office, stating: “This building reaffirms the importance of Velez-Malaga as the capital of the Axarquia and regional benchmark to offer this type of services to citizens, without having to travel to Malaga.”
