THE K-9 unit of the Local Police of Benidorm is making its debut onto the small screen this August with scenes being filmed by Spanish TV channel, La 1, last week.
Camera crews followed the specialist canine unit on a normal night of work in the busy tourist town of Benidorm. The K-9 unit is in place mainly to control drug offences in the area but assists the police with day-to-day crime prevention.
During the night service the cameras witnessed the unit assist with the location of a missing British child who was immediately returned to his parents as well as a minor.
The K-9 Unit is made up of four canine guides and four specimens – “Kily“, “Bingo”, “Golfo” and “Dollar” – specially trained for these tasks.
This Benidorm Local Police Unit was launched in 2017 and has provided an excellent service to the department and also collaborates with the State Security Forces and Corps when required.
The program will be broadcast August.
