Ric Ocasek found dead in his Townhouse in Manhattan Credit: Huffpost
Ric Ocasek, lead singer of the rock band The Cars has been found dead in his town house in Manhattan.
Famous for their hugely popular 70’s and 80’s hits including “my best friends girl”
Ocasek was 75 years old and the New York Police department released a statement saying they received a call at around 4pm Sunday for an unconscious male.
Ocasek´s identity was confirmed by the police and was pronounced dead at the scene at the town house on East 19th Street.
He leaves behind 2 children from his former super model wife Paulina Porizkova who he separated from only last year.
Ric was known for his mop of black hair and black sunglasses being his trade mark in many of the bands videos over the years.
Ocasek and the band The Cars were inducted in the rock n roll hall of fame in 2018.
