A WOMAN had been remanded in custody in connection with the death of a baby whose body was found in a rubbish bin.
The National Police of Gijon arrested a couple living in Nuevo Roces in connection with the incident that happened at the end of August.
Her partner of seven years has been released with charges. The arrests took place over the weekend. Police have indicated that the woman is the baby’s mother and had hidden her pregnancy.
The baby’s body had numerous cuts caused by a knife, according to an autopsy performed at the Institute of Legal Medicine. The newborn, a child, was allegedly killed at birth and then thrown into a container in a backpack. It was a local resident who found the remains of the child shortly afterwards.
