Harvest Thanksgiving on the Northern Costa Blanca

All the congregations of the Church of England between Alicante and Valencia will celebrate Harvest Festivals on Sunday October 6th.
The churches in Albir, Calpe, Denia, El Campello, Gandia, Javea and La Fustera (Benissa/Moraira) will meet at their usual Sunday worship times for a service of praise, thanks and joy.  Service times and details of locations can be found by clicking the “ABOUT US – Churches and Services” tab on the website 
As an example, an impressive display of fresh produce is to be donated and artistically displayed at Albir church (which meets at the Norwegian Seafarers church), and will then be given to the men’s refuge/hospice, run by the Franciscan brothers at Palma de Gandia. There is also a Harvest Supper at Albir on the Monday evening, with homemade traditional meat pie promised.
The Calpe congregation (which meets at La Merced church) and the Denia congregation (at the Ermita in Las Rotas) are holding celebratory Harvest thanksgiving lunches. In Calpe a bring and share lunch at the La Merced Campsite, Calpe, after the morning service.  This is a first for Calpe so do come along and celebrate the land grown crops shared on our table. But remember to bring with you crockery and cutlery.  All the churches are collecting non-perishable produce, in cans and packets. These will be given very quickly to local foodbanks, Caritas, the Red Cross and the Gandia Hospice. Following the floods in the area and nearby, we know that it will be gratefully received, both to help people affected by this situation and by the ongoing challenges of day to day life.
