Taxi driver Ben Lacomba, who murdered his ex-partner Sarah Wellgreen, has been sentenced to life in prison today.
Judge Christopher Kinch said “This was a wicked plan, executed for your own selfish interests.”
“This murder was not a crime of passion.
“It was, I’m sure, a planned and calculated operation that developed as it became clear that Sarah Wellgreen’s plans were to raise a mortgage and buy out your stake in the property.
“If she succeeded in that aim, you risked surrendering control of the family home to her.”
Jailed Lacomba was living with Ms Wellgreen in Kent when she disappeared and had at one stage been in a relationship with her. The pair met online in 2004 but broke off their relationship in 2014.
Ms Wellgreen’s son, Lewis Burdett said: “Today, as far as the law is concerned, justice has been served for Sarah.
“We hope he will never be released unless he admits his guilt and reveals the location of her grave.”
Ms Wellgreen body has never been found despite intensive searches and Lacomba took that secret with him to jail.
