SPAIN has put weather warnings in place with wintry weather expected to hit the country within the next two days as a storm belts through the country.
Snow, powerful winds and massive waves up to 10 metres high in the north-west coast will keep the entire country under alert. The northern half of the country has been placed in RED alert specifically Asturias and León with the risk of snow, while Galicia is under an alert as huge waves are expected to hit.
Yellow and Orange alerts are also in place for Castilla and León, Aragón, Cantabria, Castilla-La Mancha, Catalonia, Madrid, Navarra, Valencia, Extremadura, Balearic Islands, La Rioja, Basque Country, Murcia, Andalusia and the autonomous city of Melilla.
Nearly 900 pupils from 26 schools between Lugo and Ourense have not been able to attend class because of the turbulent weather conditions.
