THIS year, Palma City Council will instruct cruise ships to different arrival points across the city to avoid overcrowding in Palma de Mallorca, Spain. The system will also be used to distribute bus passengers, where tour companies will decide upon which entry point is used. Pedro Homar, the Manager of Fundació Turisme Palma 365 estimates that there are between 500 and 600 people visiting the city each day during high season. He said: “We will continue with the redistribution of cruise passengers, but also from this year we want to include tourists who stay outside the city and take a day trip to visit Palma, through a travel agency or hotel.” Homar added that “to avoid saturation in the Old Town, they will also be distributed upon arrival in the city instead of all getting off the bus at Moll Vell.”
