One dead and three injured in horror head-on collision in Spain

A WOMAN has died and three men have been seriously injured in a head-on collision in Spain.

As reported by the General Directorate of Traffic (DGT), the accident took place at KM100 on the N-550 road in Caldas de Reis, Pontevedra at approximately 7.30am this morning (January 24).

It is understood that a car had veered from their lane, crashing into a vehicle travelling in the opposite direction. Sources indicate that the deceased driver, a 48-year-old woman, may have fallen asleep at the wheel.

The driver of the car which was hit was seriously injured, in addition to their two passengers where they have all been taken to the nearby Montecelo Hospital. As Euro Weekly News understands, one of the passengers had to be cut out of the vehicle by firefighters. 

As a result of the incident, police have cordoned off the road from KM101 to 98 with traffic being diverted.
