The Paseo de Andalucía in Velez-Malaga will be the setting for the celebration of the ‘Fiesta de la Candelaria’, organized by the Virgen del Rocio Brotherhood and in which the Velez Town Hall collaborates. The event will take place on February 22 from 13.00 and will feature numerous musical activities among which the performance of Maria de la Colina.

The Councillor for Fairs and Festivals of the Municipality of Velez-Malaga, Lola Gamez and the elder sister of the Virgen del Rocio Brotherhood, Pilar Perez, gave the details of the event, also known as the ‘Festival of Light’.

Apparently the traditional festival of the Candelaria is celebrated every year on February 2nd in the village of El Rocío in Almonte and in Velez-Malaga on a different date so that everyone can attend and enjoy both events.

The festival in Velez-Malaga will kick off at 13.00 pm on Saturday February 22 where community members can enjoy drinks and home-made dishes prepared by the Brotherhood at affordable prices, and a plate of paella in exchange for 1 kilo of food or cleaning products as well as enjoy the numerous musical performances.
