SOLIDARITY: Alfaz remembers Alina Mocanu. Photo credit: Alfaz town hall
ALFAZ town hall held a three-minutes’ silence, remembering Alina Mocanu, the 36-year-old Moraira resident who was murdered by her partner. All members of the municipal corporation were demonstrating their solidarity with the dead woman’s family as they stood silently outside the town hall, and at the same time, they were condemning the 11th gender-based killing of 2020. A town hall statement later reminded the public of the 016 helpline for victims of gender violence. Women who call this number, which provides attention in 52 languages, are asked only to identify the municipality and province from which they are calling. They will not be asked to give a name and the call will not figure in their telephone bill although the number needs to be deleted from the list of calls made.
