THE popular supermarket chain is now a step closer to returning to its normal opening hours and on June 1 shoppers will have an extra hour in the supermarket. The new timetable for Mercadona will be from 09.00am to 9.00pm.
This is not the only change the supermarket has undergone during the State of Alarm. Apart from these new opening hours, the establishment guarantees a minimum distance of one metre between shoppers around the establishment, as well as in the fish section and check-out area.
Despite the de-escalation towards a new normality, the shop still recommends that only one member comes to do the shopping, rather than as a family unit or groups. It especially recommends that people belonging to the vulnerable risk group do not come to the supermarket.
The elderly, individuals with disabilities, or reduced mobility, and pregnant women will be provided with a preferential treatment to enter the supermarket do their shopping in shops all across the nation. People with essential service jobs such as medical staff, firefighters and policemen will also be given preferential entry as long as they possess the correct accreditation.
