Laughing Gas: Romanian Dealer is arrested Credit: National Police
A 22-year-old Romanian dealer on the streets of Spain’s Costa del Sol was busted by police selling canisters of laughing gas, also known as nitrous oxide, to drunk tourists.
THE incident occurred on Sunday, August 2, as the prevention and reaction unit of the National Police were patrolling. They noticed the woman whilst patrolling the streets of Fuengirola as she was outside a cocktail bar seeking out customers.
As soon as she saw the police officers looming over her the woman tried to get rid of the bum bag that she was carrying. However, the police saw her trying to dispose of it and quickly retrieved it. Inside the bum bag they found, 14 nitrous oxide canisters, nine cocaine wrappers, a piece of hashish, that weighed around 80 grams, several MDMA pills as well €440 in cash.
The suspect has since been arrested for the alleged involvement in a drug trafficking crime. Laughing gas is a dangerous drug which cuts off the supply of oxygen to the brain, giving people a short-lasting high which sometimes can even result in hallucinations. The canisters are typically used for making fresh whipped cream, but also illegally to obtain a feeling of euphoria. The gas from the nitrous oxide is released into a balloon and inhaled.
