OFFICERS from the National Police have detonated a Civil War bomb found in Torremolinos.

According to the police, the civil war bomb came from Italy and was found in the forest near the Torremolinos quarry.
Specialised officers from the National Police detonated the projectile from the Spanish Civil War in a controlled explosion that left no people injured, according to media reports.
The discovery took place last Friday around 6pm on the forest road leading to Torremolinos’s quarry.
After receiving reports of the bomb, agents specialised in deactivating explosive devices from the National Police, called TEDAX, travelled to the scene and detonated the device.
According to media reports, it was an Italian bomb used in the Civil War.
The news comes after a further explosive device weighing eight kilos was found at the Padre Luis Coloma High School in Jerez de la Frontera.
A team from the National Police Tedax bomb squad came to the school following the discovery.
The bomb was found a garden area between the gym and the cafeteria, which was not currently in use, but was being prepared to possibly create a vegetable garden.
It is thought to be a Civil War projectile, based on its appearance, and police later took the bomb away.
The school said the area was cordoned off immediately until the police arrived and a nearby classroom was evacuated for safety.
The headmaster later said a member of the bomb squad had carried the bomb away “under his arm.”
