Attention Sally Underwood – Political Animal. Well Sally I am sorry but you are wrong wrong and wrong. The only thing you did get right was the fact the Swiss are well versed in referendi. The problem with the Brexit Ref was we did it all wrong. There should have been a stipulation that one side must win by at least – insert a figure, my choice would have been 15%. I say that, not because it would have meant we would remain, but that it was the sensible thing to do and so avoid the rancour and sense of denial generated by a vote that just scraped through the 50% mark. If you agree with the assumption that many more older people voted for Brexit and younger ones voted remain then using the published death rates and numbers entering the voting age, within two years the vote would have been reversed. On such a critical matter that cannot be right. A referendum per se was not a bad idea, it was the way we organised it.
