Spain has always had its charm — think spectacular beaches, late-night tapas, and a world-famous relaxed pace of life. For a long time, that’s what drew retirees from all over the world to settle along its coasts.
But it’s not just them. Spain is also attracting young professionals, thanks to its growing career opportunities. With a booming economy — one of the fastest-growing in the European Union — Spain is becoming a top destination for professionals looking to relocate.
High-demand industries in Spain’s job market
In Spain, right now the demand for qualified talent is high in sectors like AI technology, healthcare, finance, and renewable energy.
According to LHH Recruitment Solutions, a division of the Adecco Group specialising in executive and qualified talent, Spanish companies are actively seeking professionals with both hard and soft skills.
The same source notes that the most valued attributes by Spanish employers include analytical and creative thinking, resilience, and flexibility. Technological literacy, empathy, and active listening are also in high demand.
Top-paying careers in Spain
LHH has also published a Salary Guide for 2025 offering some interesting insights into the best-paying jobs across high-growth industries in Spain.
Salaries vary based on region (Madrid, Basque Country and Catalonia are paying higher than the rest), experience, and sector. But the fact is that senior professionals in fields such as banking, law, and tech command the highest remuneration.
The report identifies the following as the top-paying roles in Spain’s labour market:
Finance & Banking
If you’ve got experience and you’re working in one of Spain’s major financial hubs (like Madrid or Barcelona), the numbers are impressive.
- Finance Managers and Business Partners can earn up to €93,000 a year.
- Treasury Managers reach around €73,000, while Auditors top out at €65,000.
- In investment banking, Managing Directors can earn as much as €300,000, with Directors making up to €200,000. Even regional roles like Risk Directors in commercial banks can bring in around €150,000.
Human Resources
- HR Managers in Catalonia can make up to €100,000, while Payroll Managers in Madrid earn around €83,000.
- A skilled HR Business Partner can expect salaries of up to €70,000.
Legal & Tax
- Senior legal professionals, especially in areas like tax, corporate, and labor law, can earn €130,000 or more in top-tier firms.
- In-house counsel and data protection officers (DPOs) are also well paid — up to €90,000.
Insurance
- Commercial Directors in insurance lead the field, with salaries reaching €140,000.
- Risk Managers and Finance Directors follow, typically earning €110,000–€120,000.
- Actuarial Managers can expect up to €110,000.
Retail
- Experienced Retail Managers are earning up to €120,000, with Marketing Directors at €95,000.
- Store Managers or those responsible for expansion may reach €80,000.
Digital & E-commerce
- Chief Digital Officers can earn close to €95,000, and Growth Managers in Madrid reach about €90,000 (though the figure drops to around €59,000 in Valencia or Andalusia).
- Digital Marketing Managers typically cap out at €76,000.
Life Sciences
- Quality Directors in pharma or biotech earn up to €100,000, with Sales Managers and Business Development roles earning between €85,000–€90,000.
Healthcare
- Public sector dermatologists in Spain can earn €100,000, while paediatricians bring in about €83,000.
- Occupational Health Physicians typically see around €75,000 per year.
Manufacturing & Energy
- Industrial Directors in large manufacturing operations can earn €110,000, and Operations or Engineering Directors land in the €90,000–€95,000 range.
- In the energy sector, particularly in renewables, Storage Managers with 10+ years of experience are earning up to €90,000, especially in areas like Madrid, Catalonia, or the Basque Country.
