Sounding it out

Regular readers, viewers and friends will be aware that my little superstar and co-presenter Boy isn’t well.  Boy is a Toy Pomeranian and started off life as the runt of the litter.  This breed is prone to certain health problems and the smaller they are bred, the more likey they are to have issues.

It would now seem that he had meningitis a few years back but at the time it went undiagnosed.  The X-rays showed a few irregular ribs and compressed vertebrae and his pain and posture were attributed to that; his real condition went untreated.

Now, following the loss of the use of his legs and a subsequent MRI we at least know the cause and that he has swelling on the brain: encephalitis.

He is on corticoids but it doesn’t seem to be helping regain his coordination to be able to walk. He’s not in pain but this is obviously very frustrating for him and quite a learning curve for both of us.

He’s not incontinent but as he can’t stand, we’re trying a nappy so I can still take him with me. We’re doing physio and I’m reaching out to people I’ve interviewed who offer alternative treatments that I think could help.

At the moment we’re both in sound therapy with Charo.  She has a special device that structures frequency to reduce mental clutter so the nervous system can settle into a calmer, more balanced emotional state. No healing claims, more of an inner regulation and self-healing. I’ve been holding Boy whilst using the system and I have noticed he’s not so sound-sensitive and is more “in himself”.  Personally I feel I’m benefitting too: fully focused.
