The Blue Stompers Jump Review are dropping by Clarence Jazz Club in Torremolinos to light up the joint with their high-energy combination of blues and boogie on Saturday, February 21.
Fans of the real authentic roots music on the Costa del Sol can look forward to another unforgettable night of stomping rhythms and soulful performances at this, the number one jazz venue on the south coast.
Formed in 2014 by London-born Paul Stylianou, the band has steadily built a dedicated following across Spain and Europe. Stylianou, who relocated to Spain in 2002, serves as the group’s leader, lead vocalist, and powerhouse harmonica player. Drawing inspiration from legends like Little Walter, James Harman, James Cotton, and Kim Wilson, he continues to write fresh material, including tracks for upcoming releases.
Raw, infectious boogie-woogie
The Stompers deliver a raw, infectious sound rooted in boogie-woogie, Afro-American blues, 1940s New Orleans jazz, and the gritty R&B style of Dr Feelgood. Their dynamic lineup features:
Iñaki Moreno on electric guitar and vocals, a veteran with over 25 years in the blues scene. Influenced by John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, Jimmy Reed, Muddy Waters, and Robert Nighthawk, Moreno brings an intense, effects-free slide guitar approach honed across Spanish and Irish circuits.
Ben Bergquist, the young standout on double bass. At just 20 years old, Ben has quickly become a key force since joining, with a solid foundation in rockabilly and rock ‘n’ roll from his family’s Buddy Holly tribute act and collaborations like Lady Lex.
Federico Álvarez on drums, an impeccable player from Antequera with deep ties to Spain’s blues community. A long-time collaborator with acts like the renowned Lito Blues Band, Fede remains an integral part of the Stompers family.
The group’s latest release, the single “Never Give Up”, is now streaming on all platforms and previews their upcoming EP of the same name.
Known for electrifying crowds at iconic spots like London’s Ain’t Nothin’ But Blues Bar and the Kwadendamme Blues Festival in Holland, the Blue Stompers Jump Review consistently earn rave receptions for their lively, authentic shows. Their frequent appearances at Clarence Jazz Club have made them a local favourite, following previous successful gigs there.
Don’t miss this chance to catch one of the Costa del Sol’s premier blues acts in an intimate club setting.
Ticket details: Tickets are available through the Clarence Jazz Club website (clarencejazzclub.com) or at the venue. The entry fee runs from between €10 & €15.
