Malaga is warming up for a powerful display of unity and sport with the XII Carrera Mujeres contra el Cáncer ‘Ciudad de Málaga’. This inspiring event returns on Sunday, March 22, drawing thousands of women to raise awareness and funds in the battle against cancer.
Easy 4.7km urban route around athletics stadium
Organisers have designed a straightforward circular course of 4.7 kilometres around the Estadio de Atletismo Ciudad de Malaga. Participants start from the southern entrance car park on Avenida Manuel Alvar, head along Calle Pacífico to the junction with Avenida de los Guindos, then loop back via Avenida Imperio Argentina, Alicia de Larrocha, and Miguel Mérida Nicolich before finishing at the starting area. Low difficulty makes the route accessible and open for runners and those who just prefer to walk.
Affordable entry and essential perks for participants
Enthusiasts can sign up now through the official website at unidoscontraelcancermlg.es until the 5,500-participant limit is reached. A modest €10 fee covers the race bib and a commemorative T-shirt. Every euro supports vital projects run by member associations of the Unidos Contra el Cáncer Development Group. Runners collect their bibs and shirts until March 20 at the athletics stadium from 10am to 8pm. Refreshments including water, soft drinks, and fruit await at the finish line. Supporters unable to run can contribute via the Dorsal 0 donation option.
Categories, volunteers, and strong institutional backing
Three categories feature: absolute, different abilities, and the oldest finisher. Over 150 volunteers will help make sure operations run smoothly. Malaga Council’s Sports and Social Rights departments lead the organisation together with the Andalusian government and Malaga Provincial Council. Free return bus tickets from EMT encourage easy access. Sponsors include Fundación ‘la Caixa’, Primor, Hard Rock Café Malaga, Coca-Cola, and others.
Ambitious goal to exceed 5,000 women participants
Officials want to get more than 5,000 entrants this year, open to females aged 12 and over. Eight key associations form the Unidos Contra el Cáncer group: Fundación Olivares, Fundación Infantil Ronald McDonald, AVOI, FMAEC, Fundación Cesare Scariolo, ASAMMA, Fundación CUDECA, and AECC. Established in 2012 by Malaga Council, this network encourages collaboration, shares expertise, and drives cancer prevention and awareness initiatives.
This annual race unites the community in hope, strength, and collective action against cancer. Get your place on the race as soon as possible and become part of Malaga’s biggest show of female unity.
