Groundbreaking technology is raising emergency management standards across Andalucia following the presentation of a state-of-the-art mobile command centre by Antonio Sanz, the regional councillor for health and safety, in the picturesque town of Benahavis.
Powerful capabilities position the new advanced command post as a vital tool for directing major incidents directly from the field with greater speed, security and coordination between all involved services.
Speaking at the unveiling, Antonio Sanz stressed that the unit represents far more than a mere specialised truck, serving instead as a crucial instrument to protect lives and improve operational efficiency during crises of any scale. Superior integration sets this facility apart, since no comparable system currently operates anywhere in Spain according to official assessments.
High-tech features define the revolutionary mobile unit
Manufactured by an Andalucian company and supported through a substantial €1.5 million investment, the innovative vehicle functions as a completely autonomous coordination centre ready for immediate activation in forest fires, earthquakes, floods, or whatever emergency situation may arise. Mounted on a powerful Mercedes Actros chassis over eleven metres long, the resource stands ready for prolonged operations covering hours or even days in diverse scenarios across the most challenging terrains. Lateral expansion mechanisms enlarge the internal space to 4.5 metres wide, thereby housing an operations room equipped with four workstations featuring advanced technology, large-format screens and real-time data access along with a strategic coordination room for eight people incorporating videoconference systems and direct links to central command posts for the best oversight. Multi-band communication systems stand out prominently among its assets, joined by permanent satellite connectivity, high-definition cameras, an on-board weather station and specialised tools for creating operational cartography instantaneously under any conditions.
These sophisticated capabilities allow simultaneous direction of multiple emergency bodies even in locations lacking conventional coverage, dramatically improving response effectiveness across the entire region and ensuring optimal resource allocation at all times.
Communities throughout the area will experience heightened protection against various emergencies, including natural disasters and industrial incidents, benefiting from on-site decision-making that accelerates interventions and reduces potential hazards significantly.
