Beach bars reopen across Costa Blanca South as coastal season begins

Beach bars along Costa Blanca South have begun reopening for the 2026 season, marking the unofficial start of the coastal spring period across areas such as La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Punta Prima.

Several chiringuitos along Orihuela Costa reopened on Sunday, March 15, as warmer weather returned to the region. Locations including Cala Cerrada in La Zenia and Cala Capitán in Cabo Roig were among the first to resume service, welcoming residents and visitors back to the seafront.

The reopening follows the traditional seasonal pattern, with many beach bars operating from mid-March through to autumn. These establishments typically offer drinks, light meals and sunbed services, becoming central social spaces along the coastline during the warmer months.

Not all locations reopen at the same time. While some chiringuitos in La Zenia and Cabo Roig began operating in mid-March, others follow closer to Easter. Beach bars in Punta Prima and Mil Palmeras are expected to open from April 1, aligning with increased visitor numbers during the holiday period.

A small number of beach bars remain open year-round, particularly in high-traffic areas such as La Zenia and Cabo Roig. However, the majority are dismantled during winter months and reinstalled each spring as part of regulated coastal operations.

The reopening of these venues is widely seen as a key indicator of the changing season, with activity gradually increasing along the coast. In addition to food and drink services, many beach bars also provide amenities such as sunbeds and parasols, which typically become available from mid-March onwards.

Across Costa Blanca South, including La Mata, Punta Prima, La Zenia, Cabo Roig and Mil Palmeras, the return of beach bars signals the beginning of a busier period for coastal areas. With temperatures rising and daylight hours extending, both residents and visitors are returning to the beaches in greater numbers. Further openings are expected in the coming weeks, with coastal services gradually expanding in line with seasonal demand.
