Spain beckons exploration with a rich cultural tapestry woven from many regions, each with distinctive languages, customs and cuisine.

In Catalonia, Catalan’s spoken alongside Castilian Spanish, reflecting a strong regional identity.

Visitors can explore Barcelona’s architectural wonders while enjoying dishes such as paella and a glass of refreshing cava.

Further south, Andalusia’s outstanding Moorish legacy is most famously revealed in the exquisite Alhambra palace. Spanish is the dominant language, though Andaluz’s melodious cadence is unique to the region. Local flavours include traditional tapas, chilled gazpacho and prized jamón ibérico.

In the Basque Country, Euskara is spoken beside Spanish. The region is known for its independent spirit and celebrated cuisine, from pintxos (bite-sized snacks) to its famous Basque cider.

Head northwest to Galicia, where Galician, a Romance language with Celtic roots, is spoken alongside Spanish. The coastline offers superb seafood, including pulpo a la gallega, often paired with crisp Albariño wine.

Spain’s a mosaic of regions, each adding colours, textures and flavours to its cultural landscape – from Catalonia’s linguistic diversity and Andalusia’s flamenco rhythms to the culinary Basque Country and Celtic Galicia.
