Classic car and vehicle charity rally in Nerja for Nahel

A charity gathering of classic cars, motorbikes and tuning vehicles will take place in Nerja on Saturday, April 11, as locals come together to support a young child living with the rare disease IRF2BPL.

The event, ‘I Concentración Benéfica por la Sonrisa de Nahel’, will be held at Llano del Mercadillo in Nerja, with entry set at €5. Organisers say the aim is simple, to raise support for Nahel and help his family continue their fight.

The heart-breaking story behind the event has already touched many people in the area. David, Nahel’s father, has been part of the group from the beginning, and the rally is a way of giving something back at a time when the family needs support most.

The rare disease can worsen over time

Nahel suffers from IRF2BPL, a very rare condition that can affect brain development and may cause children to lose skills over time, including movement, speech and walking. The family’s wider fundraising campaign, ‘Por La Sonrisa de Nahel’, says a clinical trial already exists in the United States, but raising the money needed remains a major challenge.

That wider appeal has already received strong backing. At the time of writing, the campaign’s GoFundMe page had raised €8,516 of a €9,000 target, showing the level of support already building around the cause.
