Budding photographers have the opportunity to show off their talent and win big as registration for the 4th annual Almanzora Valley Tourist Photography Competition recently opened.
Amateur and professionals alike are encouraged to explore the Almanzora Valley, capturing the beauty of neighbouring towns or the magic the 30 Wonders of Almanzora have to offer.
Contestants are not restricted to one specific device, making the competition accessible to anyone with a camera, phone, tablet etc. The only requirement is that the photos are recent, taken in 2026. This is so each photo represents an accurate, up-to-date snapshot of life in the Almanzora Valley.
Competition dates and free registration
Registration for the competition, organised by the Almanzora Valley Tourism Business Association, is open until May 31 and participation is completely free, although entrants must register before submitting their photographs.
After registering, contestants will have until June 2 to submit a maximum of 20 photos, giving participants several months to capture their perfect shot. . Entries must be submitted online, ensuring accessibility for both local residents and international participants.
What judges are looking for
The jury is made up of incredibly talented and influential industry professionals: Pablo Garvia Ibañez, Director of the “Perez Siquier” Photography Museum in Olula del Rio; Raquel Caparros, manager of the Raquel Caparros Photography Studio in Albox; and Alvaro Perez Garcia, CEO of Felinu Academy.
In addition to artistry and individuality, the judges will also consider the photograph’s potential as a marketing tool to attract visitors, and whether it captures the spirit and charm of the Almanzora Valley. The competition aims to turn participants into ambassadors for the region, showcasing its landscapes, culture and hidden gems.
Themes: 30 Wonders and Local Villages
Participants are encouraged to focus on the “30 Wonders of Almanzora” or the many picturesque villages across the region, including places such as Albox, Macael, Serón and Tíjola. The full list of eligible shooting locations can be found at turismoalmanzora.com.
Both colour and black-and-white images are accepted, with only minimal editing permitted to maintain authenticity. The goal is to highlight the diversity of the valley, from natural scenery to cultural heritage.
Cash prizes and cecognition
The top three finishers will receive a cash prize – €100 for third, €150 for second and €250 for first – along with a certificate validating their accomplishment.
Winners are expected to be announced in June, with a prize-giving ceremony taking place before the end of July, celebrating the creativity and vision of photographers who successfully capture the essence of the Almanzora Valley.
