Business creation has marked a historic record in the Region of Murcia, with a total of 352 new companies registered and representing an incredible 49.2 per cent year-on-year ride. The figure is the highest ever recorded for the month of February in Murcia, according to data released by the National Institute of Statistics, or INE.

Record growth for the Region of Murcia

The February increase also marks two consecutive months of year-on-year growth in business creation for the Region. It also surpasses the national average, which saw a 45 per cent increase, also representing the best figures in recorded history for Spain.

The creation of the 352 companies in Murcia registered a cost of just over €41.57 million euros, representing 343.17 per cent more than in the same month of 2025.

Of the companies in Murcia, 25 were dissolved in February, representing a decrease of 46.8 per cent. Of these, 12 dissolved by choice of the owner; four through mergers with other companies; and the nine remaining companies dissolved for other reasons.

Dissolutions aside, the number of companies that increased their total capital in the Region of Murcia reached 73 in February of 2026, with the total capital in these increases equalling €92.81 million.

Country experiencing record growth

Business creation increased across all communities in Spain, with Cantabria, Andalucia and the Valencian Community leading the charge, while on the opposite side were Navarre, Galicia and Extremadura.

Regarding the dissolution of companies, the Canary Islands, the Valencian Community and La Rioja were the communities that saw the most dissolution of companies year-on-year, while Navarre, the Region of Murcia and the Basque Country were among the least.

Murcia, exceeding expectations

The figures represent an encouraging trend of the growth of the Region of Murcia in all sectors, with a decrease in unemployment and an increase in those registered with Social Security, boding well for the region and for the Costa Calida as a whole.
