The Poble Nou de Benitachell’s Pensioners’ and Retired People’s Association, in collaboration with the Benitachell Town Council, is bringing back another long-awaited edition of one of its most beloved community traditions. The Giant Paella gathering, a festive event created specifically for the elderly people of the municipality, is back and will take place on La Pau Street on Sunday, June 14.
A giant paella in the heart of town, open for all to enjoy
The event is expected to turn the heart of the town into a lively meeting point, filled with food, music, companionship, and camaraderie during this special day in June. The Giant Paella event will see visitors gather at 2:00pm for lunch, and as its name suggests, a giant and delicious paella will be served as the centrepiece of the day.
Live entertainment will accompany the lunch
But the paella will not be the only thing to pay attention to: there will also be live entertainment present during the afternoon, with live mariachi music accompanying lunch and creating a lively, festival atmosphere. Afterwards, at around 4:00pm, attendees will be able to dance with instructor Toni Catalá, making for a fun and active afternoon.
This festive event for the elderly neighbours of the municipality was designed to encourage social interaction and community spirit.
Price of tickets and how to register
Tickets for the event will be priced at €5 for association members and €10 for non-members, and though it is an event made specifically for elderly residents, anyone in the municipality is welcome to attend. Reservations will be open until June 10, and can be made by contacting Mónica or Pepita, the local hairdressers, who are in charge of organising the ticket sales for the event.
Bringing generations together, through the power of paella
This event has become an important staple in Benitachell, not only for the delicious paella, but for the active ageing the event encourages. By bringing together older residents, families, and neighbours for a satisfying lunch, the gathering helps to strengthen local ties and promote connection in the community across generations.
Organisers are encouraging everyone to book early and avoid missing out on this popular and heartwarming community celebration. The Giant Paella gathering promises a joyful afternoon of togetherness, tradition, music and paella shared under the warm June sun in Benitachell.
