A summer party organised by cancer survivor Marilyn Tomlinson has brought the local community together while raising valuable funds for Cancer Care, with the final total set to be announced in the coming weeks.

Friends, neighbours and supporters gathered for an afternoon filled with laughter, entertainment and community spirit, all with one shared goal – helping Cancer Care continue supporting local people and their families through cancer.

The fundraiser created a warm and uplifting atmosphere, with guests enjoying a chance to socialise while contributing to a cause that has touched so many lives. Every euro raised will go towards helping the charity provide practical and emotional support to those facing a cancer diagnosis.

A personal reason to give back

For Marilyn, the event was far more than just a summer celebration. Having been supported by Cancer Care during her own cancer journey, she wanted to thank the organisation that stood beside her when she needed it most.

She has often described the Cancer Care team as her “angels without wings”, a heartfelt tribute to the compassion and encouragement she received throughout her treatment and recovery.

Determined to help others benefit from the same support, Marilyn chose to organise the fundraiser as a way of giving something back to the charity that continues to hold a special place in her heart.

Every donation makes a difference

Cancer Care has expressed its gratitude to Marilyn and everyone who attended the event, saying community fundraising plays a vital role in allowing the charity to continue its work.

The organisation provides support to local people living with cancer, as well as their loved ones, offering practical assistance and emotional guidance during what can be one of the most challenging periods of their lives.

While the total amount raised has not yet been revealed, it will be announced when Marilyn visits Cancer Care to officially present the cheque.

The charity said it is deeply thankful for the generosity shown by everyone who supported the event, adding that every donation, no matter how large or small, helps ensure Cancer Care can continue being there for local families when they need it most.
