Marbella’s Sarah Almagro storms to victory at Pantin Classic adaptive surfing

Marbella’s Sarah Almagro has won top spot at the adaptive surfing championship of the ABANCA Pantin Classic Galicia Pro 2026. Held on August 22 and 23 at Pantin Beach in Valdovino, A Coruna, she scored 14.50 points to leave her rivals trailing.

Current national, European and world champion in the PS-P2 category, Almagro finished well clear of the field. Lithuania’s representative took second with 8.56 points, while Germany’s athlete claimed third on 8.54.

Coach Nico Huercano from Escuela de Surf Dreisog and young Canarian bodyboard prospect Stephen Shaw accompanied the Marbella athlete throughout the contest.

Record entry for adaptive surfing at Pantin

Nearly 50 athletes from Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and Lithuania took part, setting a participation record. Adaptive surfing opened the 39th edition of the ABANCA Pantin Classic Galicia Pro. Local parasurfer Dani Souto, linked to the Muy Capacitados initiative, and veteran Antonio Muller worked with organisers to push the discipline forward.

QS 6,000 status returns to Galicia

ABANCA Pantin Classic Galicia Pro has regained WSL QS 6,000 international ranking this year. Surfers from more than 20 countries, including Hawaii, Australia, the United States and Brazil, will compete in Galician waters.
