Cuban culture will be sprinkled over San Pedro Alcantara for four fun days of carribean celebrations

Salsa rhythms, sizzling street food and the sweet scent of rum are about to fill San Pedro Alcantara, as a super sized slice of Havana lands on the coast this September.

Four days jam packed with Caribbean flavour

San Pedro Alcantara will turn up the heat to high to host the ‘Gastro-Cultural Festival La Pequeña Cuba’ (Little Cuba) from Thursday, September 17 to Sunday, September 20, bringing gastronomy, crafts, cocktails and live music to the boulevard to introduce locals and visitors to Cuban culture and traditions. Across the four days, attendees can explore all the different sides of Cuban identity through it’s food stalls, craft areas and musical performances.

Council explains deeper meaning behind backing the celebration

Councillor Remedios Bocanegra, who presented the programme this week, stressed that Marbella’s town hall wants to keep supporting initiatives from the different associations and communities that make up the city, placing particular emphasis on backing the Cuban community and honouring its roots and identity, especially, she noted, at a difficult time for their homeland, shaped in recent years by serious shortages and a complex economic and social situation.

A festival with a message

Food and music are the heart and soul of the event, however, a more reflective moment has been built into the schedule too. A manifesto addressing the long-standing situation faced by Cuba will be read on Saturday, September 19 at 7pm, giving the celebration a deeper meaning beyond the entertainment on offer.

Caribbean music, create craft stands, zingy cocktail bars and mouth-watering food stalls will line San Pedro’s boulevard across the four days to tempt you in. Anyone curious about Cuban cuisine, drinks or traditions will now get the chance to experience them right on your doorstep.
