Planning a winter escape around Spain, or a trip home to see family? Vueling has unveiled its winter schedule, with extra seats, new routes and several changes giving travellers loads more options.

What Vueling has announced

Winter flying starts on October 25, and Vueling, Spain’s best low cost carrier for 2026, has scheduled 15 million seats across its network, 14.5 million of them in Spain. Domestic routes get the biggest increase, with 7.2 million seats, around 250,000 more than last winter. Links between the mainland and the Balearic and Canary Islands also grow, as do routes to France and Italy. Vueling is scheduling roughly two million seats to France (up 4%) and 1.6 million to Italy (up 16%).

Changes for UK travellers

Galicia will see a change of UK airport, as even though Santiago de Compostela keeps its daily London flight, all seven weekly services will now use Gatwick instead of Heathrow. Until now, six of those flights went to Heathrow and one to Gatwick.

Barcelona will continue to be Vueling’s main base, with 90 destinations and 10 million seats, 5.4 million of them international. Seats to Naples, Turin and Palermo rise 60%, to 300,000, and Paris Orly gains a further 55,000.

Bilbao, its second Spanish base, will have more than 1.5 million seats, 10% up on last winter, across 27 destinations. Rome, Venice, Naples and Turin are the four new routes, with extra flights to Milan. Domestically, Bilbao to Granada resumes, Bilbao to Santiago starts at Christmas, and Malaga and Alicante get more than 25% extra seats.

Bilbao also has the best news for London flyers. Vueling will fly to London Heathrow twice daily, with more than 102,000 seats, on top of 118,000 seats to Gatwick. Seville gets an upgrade too. Its summer flight to Heathrow, which began in March 2026 continues through winter with around 50,000 seats, alongside the existing Gatwick service.

Changes within Spain

Santiago will have 720,000 seats, 155,000 more than last year, a 27% rise, across 13 routes. Santiago to Valencia returned on 15 September, flying three times a week. A fifth aircraft will be based there from summer 2027.

Andalucia gets nearly three million seats across 38 routes from six airports: Seville, Malaga, Granada, Almeria, Jerez and Cordoba. Seville leads with 1.2 million seats on 14 routes. Malaga has more than a million, and Jerez, in Cadiz province, nearly 90,000.

Granada has more than 400,000 seats, with Bilbao flights back from October 25. A brand-new direct route to Valencia follows on March 20 2027, with tickets already on sale. It starts with three flights a week, on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.

The Canary Islands, popular with winter sun seekers, get 2.1 million seats, up 3%, and the Barcelona to Canaries corridor reaches almost 800,000 seats. The Balearic Islands (Mallorca, Menorca and Ibiza) also get 2.1 million seats on 25 routes. International seats there rise 17% to more than 100,000, with Palma to Paris Orly seeing the biggest increase.

Booking your winter trip

Schedules can change, so check dates and fares directly with Vueling before you book. With more seats on many routes, there should be more choice for visiting family, escaping the British winter or exploring Spain’s cities.
