A local food and clothes bank has issued an urgent appeal for donations as increasing numbers of families turn to the organisation for help with everyday essentials.

A Helping Hand Food & Clothes Bank says its shelves need replenishing as its unpaid team of volunteers continues supporting people struggling to put food on the table and meet household costs. Donations can be taken directly to its San Luis base or to collection points across the Costa Blanca.

Food and everyday essentials urgently needed

The group is asking residents to donate food, toiletries, baby and children’s items, clothing, shoes and useful household goods. Towels and bedding are also welcomed.

Even small donations can make a difference, and the organisation is encouraging residents to check their cupboards for suitable items they are unlikely to use.

Unopened tins, packets of pasta and other food can all help replenish supplies as demand for assistance continues.

The appeal is not limited to food. Toiletries and essential items for babies and children are also needed, alongside clothing and other practical household goods that can be passed on to people requiring support.

Financial contributions towards the group’s food shopping are also welcomed, allowing volunteers to purchase supplies when stocks are running low.

More than 20 collection points available

A Helping Hand Food & Clothes Bank operates from Avenida Deva 315, San Luis, 03184.

The centre is open every Tuesday and Friday from 10:00 AM until 1:00 PM, when donations can be taken directly to the volunteer team.

For people unable to visit San Luis, more than 20 collection points have been established across the surrounding area.

Locations include Los Montesinos, Cabo Roig, Playa Flamenca, Formentera, Catral, Quesada, La Marina, Torrevieja, Mil Palmeras and Benimar.

Several of the collection points accept food only, while others can receive a wider selection of donated items, so residents are advised to check before dropping anything off.

Volunteers continue supporting local families

The food and clothes bank is operated by an unpaid team, with donations helping volunteers continue providing practical assistance to families facing financial difficulties.

With more people turning to the organisation for support, replenishing stocks has become increasingly important.

Further information, including details of individual collection points and the donations they can accept, is available through the A Helping Hand Costa Blanca Facebook page.
