THE Guardia Civil arrested two minors and six adults in Almoradi last week on suspicion of 38 burglaries in the Vega Baja area. Of the 38, 37 were of public establishments in Almoradi, Dolores, Catral, Bigastro, Rafal, Callosa de Segura and Redovan, and one of a private residence in Almoradi.
Investigations began last November following a rise in burglaries and the case was dubbed ‘Operacion Persiana’ (Operation Shutter).
They were reported to have stolen more than €50,000 in cash from the various properties. Two searches were made of homes in Almoradi where a watch and collection of banknotes was discovered.
