CIVIL PROTECTION volunteers in Torrox are up in arms over delays of the payment of their expenses. They claim that the government team, which is composed by the Izquierda Unida, Partido Popular, PIU and PSA, have promised to pay them the expenses and fees for last year and the first months of this year.
A spokesman said that at least 100 people are affected by this and the debt amounts to around €60,000. They have been told that everything will be sorted before the elections on May 22, but the volunteers see the date approaching and they still haven’t been paid, so they are planning a street protest.
