Hector Barbera with Alberto Fabra
SPANISH motorcyclist Hector Barbera was arrested after ignoring a driving ban.
Valencia-born Barbera, 16th in the Moto GP World Championships, was driving a Maserati when stopped during a routine Local Police check in Valencia city.
Barbera, who was banned after testing positive in a breath test in January 2012, was again tested but not found to be driving under the influence of drink.
He has now been given a €3,600 fine for breaching the driving ban.
The Valencia incident was his third run-in with the police, following a six-month prison sentence arising from a fight with his 23-year-old girlfriend while both were staying in Jerez where Barbera raced in the Spanish Motorcycling Grand Prix.
Barbera’s six month sentence was commuted to community work and his girlfriend received a five-month suspended sentence.
