THE Political party Adelante Andalucia has demanded that the Junta de Andalucia pay back a historical debt to the Nerja Council.
The debt originates from 2007, when the Junta de Andalucía approved a plan for the construction of a new fire station in the Nerja municipality.
It was due to be financed via an agreement between the regional administration and the Diputación de Málaga, however due to the inactivity of the administration is was paid for by the Nerja town council and the Junta.
Nerja town council contributed €530,064 whilst the provincial body invested €479,555.
As part of the Adelante Andalucia electoral campaign, spokeswoman for the AA, Vanessa Garcia Malaga, has asked that former government official, Elías Bendodo, repay the debt that he authorized when he was in the constituency.
“Now that he sits in the armchairs of the Board, he can now proceed authorize its reimbursement, failure to do so would demonstrate that all initiatives that had previously presented had an electoral objective, and never cared for the municipality of Nerja,” said Malaga.
Spokesman for training in the municipality, José Juan Aído has explained that the returned money will finance accessibility projects in the region, a new amphitheatre and a new multipurpose space for youth projects.
