EXPERIENCED player John Dedman won a really exciting final against another long-time player Adrain Sussex at the Indalo Bowling Club in the Veteran Singles Competition 2019.

To prove age is no barrier, 26 veterans – all over the age of 68, as required by the rules – entered this very popular competition.

One day was rained off due to the recent wet weather, but play continued when the sun came out again, even though it was a bit chilly.

The competition was as competitive as ever, and after some very close matches the semi-finals were contested between Keith Lester and John Dedman. John was the winner, the score 21 to 14.

John has been one of the Indalo BC coaches for quite a few years and enjoyed great success in past finals he has played in.

The second semi-final was played between Alan Saunders and Adrian Sussex, with Adrian winning 21 to 5. Adrian has recently joined Indalo BC after relocating to the area. He had been a county grass rink player while living in England and was thoroughly enjoying playing on the Costa Almeria on a different surface and in good weather!

The final was a very competitive match. Both John and Adrian played some really good consistent and accurate bowling to take the final score 21 to 20 to John.

An exciting game to watch and the spectators had no idea who would come out on top right to the end. Well done to both players for a fantastic match.

The Indalo Bowling Club gave a shout out to anyone who would like to take up a new interest in the New Year to go along and try bowling and have some fun. Details on the club website.
