Teen Queen's Guard faces jail

Teen Queen’s Guard faces jail after heading to Ukraine.

The 19-year-old member of the Queen’s Guard had gone AWOL and headed to join Ukraine’s fight against Russia. Military police have arrested the young man after he returned to the UK.

The teenager had wanted to put his skills to best use and help Ukrainian forces. After being in contact with army bosses he agreed to return to the UK. The Queen’s Guard had protected the Queen at Windsor Castle before he went AWOL.

The Coldstream Guard member is now facing jail according to The Sun. The Ministry of Defence had warned soldiers not to head to Ukraine.

As reported by MailOnline the Ministry of Defence is “hugely relieved” the soldier has come to his senses and returned to the UK.

A military source told The Sun that the soldier had seen “the error of his ways.” The source added: “He was in touch with his chain of command, who told him that he had to return.

“He knew he would be in trouble but was also told in no uncertain terms that it would be worse the longer he stayed out there.”

A British ex-serviceman who had spent time with the teenager said he had just wanted to use his training. The ex-serviceman commented: “He said he had been to the Falklands for six months, but was bored in the UK and wanted to see some action and use his training.

“At first, he had no intention of returning to the UK but people told him he should and that he was in trouble as going AWOL is a serious offence.”
