Salt Bae’s London restaurant, made famous for serving expensive gold-covered steaks, earned £7M (€8.3M) in its first four months in business.

Published accounts for Nusr-Et UK Limited show the Instagram star, Salt Bae, made a profit of around £2M (€2.4M), the Evening Standard confirmed on Saturday, August 13.

Nusret Gokce nicknamed Salt Bae, is a Turkish butcher, chef, food entertainer and restaurateur whose technique for preparing and seasoning meat became an Internet meme in January 2017. He owns Nusr-Et, a chain of luxury steak houses.

Nusr-Et UK Limited, the company behind the Knightbridge spot, revealed the figure in its accounts published this week and said it had “performed higher than expected”.

Nusr-Et in Knightbridge opened in late September 2021, with its brand taken from the social media star Salt Bae who has over 40 million Instagram followers.

It is alleged that the golden tomahawk steak in the Knightsbridge restaurants costs a whopping £1,500 (€1,770) and is said to be one of the most expensive items on the menu.

The steak comes wrapped in an edible gold leaf.

Ironically, according to the figures, Salt Bae’s London restaurant ranks as the second-worst steakhouse in the capital among a total of 261 listed on Tripadvisor.

Nusr-Et Steakhouse describes itself as “an internationally acclaimed destination, serving celebrity clientele.
