In last night’s episode of Strictly Come Dancing, there was some score board controversy when professional dancer Dianne Buswell and Radio DJ Tyler West faced the judges for scoring at the end of their dancefloor debut.

Tyler had posted on social media how well he and Dianne were getting on, writing on Instagram: “And just like that team Tydi was born! So extremely happy and my abs hurt not from dancing but from laughing so much!”

After the dancing couple performed the American Smooth to Harry Styles’ 2022 modern song ‘Falling’, the screen transferred to give a view of the judges for them to give their verdict.

However, head judge Shirley got confused and the number on the scoreboard didn’t match that which she was holding up which caused some score board controversy in the process of judging the anticipating dancers.

Although the score board itself said ‘6’, Shirley held up the seven paddle, declaring “I’m putting up a seven” as she did so. Luckily, host Claudia Winkleman stepped in to clear up the confusion, and clarified that Shirley did in fact intend to score the pair a seven and not a six.

After Shirley, laughing, admitted that she’d “got muddled up with (her) paddles”, Claudia moved on with the show, saying “Perfect, we’ll take the seven”, much to the delight of the two contestants.
