More than 3,000 employees from the Mango firm met during the morning of Tuesday, December 17, in Barcelona to say their final goodbye to the founder of the company, Isak Andic, who died on Saturday in an accident in the mountains he loved at the age of 71.
During a touching tribute ceremony, which took place at the Mango Campus, where the company’s headquarters is located in Barcelona, employees accompanied Andic’s family and the Mango management committee to pay homage to the entrepreneur and took the opportunity to praise his inspiring leadership and vision over 40 years as the head of the company.
His son, Jonathan, who was accompanying his father at the time of the accident, showed his commitment to the brand and its future. ‘This is just the beginning. Let us continue to honour his memory and his legacy, keeping alive the values and teachings he left us. May his example inspire us to be better every day and to continue building together the Mango of the future,’ he said in an emotional speech.
Son and executive director gives inspiring speech to Mango employees
Jonathan Andic is the eldest of three siblings and the only one on the company’s board of directors as an executive director, in addition to serving as director of the Mango Man line.
Mango, which has just celebrated its 40th anniversary, is controlled by the family company Punto Na Holding, which owns 95 percent of the capital. The remaining 5 percent has been in the hands of the company’s CEO, Toni Ruiz, for a year, when Isak Andic decided to give it to him because he considered that he was one of the architects of Mango’s boom over the last five years. He is, therefore, the only shareholder outside this family business.
Toni Ruiz described Isak Andic, saying, ‘He was a visionary, a leader, a great companion in the lives of all of us who knew him. No matter how far he had come, his mind was already on the next step.’
Isak Andic slipped and fell to his death while out hiking with his son and family in the mountains of Collbató, just outside of Barcelona, on Saturday, December 14.
