With Glastonbury Festival kicking off on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, most attendees are facing long queues on roads or lengthy rail journeys. But Ollie White, 25, has taken a very different route – cycling nearly 1,000 miles (1,600 km) from Madrid to Glastonbury.
White, who works in Madrid as a content creator for La Liga, began his journey at the end of May, cycling around 100km a day through mountains, deserts and coastal routes across Spain and France.
“A lot of people think I’m crazy for doing this, but for me it doesn’t seem too crazy,” he told the BBC. “It’s just a challenge I’ve set myself… once you’ve done all the preparation, you just have to get on the bike each day and do the kilometres.”
He’s been travelling solo with just a tent, a backpack, and his phone, documenting the entire trip for social media. His clips, edited in forests and fields, have drawn tens of thousands of views.
“Sometimes I’m in my tent in the middle of a forest while camping and I’m trying to put the videos together and add the subtitles, stuff like that, so it is challenging.”
“I have a ticket for Glastonbury, so why not cycle?”
Today, White reached the end of his incredible journey, posting on Instagram a clip that’s captioned: ‘Madrid to Glastonbury? Completed it mate. ✅’
“In terms of the headliners, Neil Young will be the one I’m looking forward to most,” he said. “When I’m cycling through lovely fields and desert-like landscapes he’s been a really good soundtrack.”
