Las Flores Playa: A hidden oasis in front of the sea

Whether you live in Spain or are visiting for a holiday, it’s crucial to find the ideal restaurant, no matter where you are.

Delicious food, of course, but also, stunning views make a huge difference when dining in Spain. Especially when you know that Spain offers some of the most beautiful sights in the world. Who wants to be looking at a trash can, or a brick wall, while they eat dinner? It takes away from the true experience of what Spain is all about – natural beauty.

Luckily, if you find yourself in the Costa Blanca South area and want to find one of those once-in-a-lifetime spots, then head over to Las Flores Playa in La Mata.

The ambiance

Las Flores Playa directly translates to ‘Flowers Beach’, creating an idea of a very beautiful, calming spot to enjoy your meal. You can enjoy the modern, contemporary art-like ambiance during breakfast as you sip your café con leche and enjoy a croissant, or during lunch or dinner with their full menu ready to wow your taste buds.

The two-story restaurant offers views and vibes no matter where you’re seated, as it’s an open-structured restaurant with no walls blocking you away from the fresh air of the smell of the salty sea.

The food

They have plenty of paella options, all of which are freshly homemade. They have a long list of tapas, salads, meat, fish, soups, pasta, burgers, and desserts as well, leaving the list of options endless.

When I checked it out, I tried the typical Spanish dish of ‘patatas bravas’, roasted and fried potatoes with a spicy bravas sauce on top, which were clearly freshly made and piping hot. I also tried their seafood soup, which was one of the best seafood soups I’ve tried in a long time. A broth consistency with mussels, shrimp, and other fish scattered throughout the soup, plus some warm baguette to dip into it. They also have a homemade cheesecake, which I 100% recommend to any cheesecake lover.

Overall, it’s a beautiful place to check out – for the food, and for the views.

The details

The owners also have a second location just around the corner from the beachside spot, called ‘La Trastienda’, meaning ‘The Back Room’. This restaurant has signature tapas and beach views, although it’s tucked further back into the street compared to Las Flores Playa.

The exact address of Las Flores Playa is Avenida de los Suecos, 2, La Mata, Alicante, 03188. They are open every day from 8:30am to 2am. Their phone number is 965 04 53 42. Reservations are not required but recommended on weekends and during the busier times of year, like the summertime.

There is also a private mini-pool area on the upper level of the restaurant that is reserved as VIP for those who book it. For more details, give them a phone call.
