As the new year begins, Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro is encouraging residents on the Costa del Sol to consider volunteering their time and talents to support older English-speaking expatriates in the community.

The charity highlights volunteering as one of the most rewarding ways to make a meaningful difference, emphasising that everyone possesses valuable skills, whether organising events, driving, fundraising, or simply offering a listening ear, that can transform lives.

The organisation focuses on helping older expats lead lives filled with fun and friendship, ensuring they never feel isolated or alone. Through a combination of social activities, practical assistance, and tailored support, Age Concern has already assisted hundreds of local seniors.

Your time and talents will thrive at Age Concern

“What makes us different is our client-focused approach,” the charity states. “Your skills and talents will thrive here, and you’ll make a massive impact on our older community members.” Volunteers not only provide tangible help, such as companionship, transport to appointments, or help with daily tasks, but also gain a profound sense of purpose and personal fulfilment.

Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro acknowledges that some people may have had disappointing experiences with volunteering in the past, feeling unappreciated or like “just a number”. Age Concern promises a different experience: flexible opportunities tailored to individual availability and interests, with a commitment to ensuring every moment spent volunteering is enjoyable.

Make a difference in your community

“If you feel that 2026 is the right time to make a difference, we really should talk,” the charity says. “We will do our utmost to ensure that however much time you have to spare, you will enjoy every moment of that time with us.”

The charity, which operates without government funding, runs a Social and Activity Centre in San Pedro offering activities like yoga, bridge classes, and group events, together with regular coffee mornings across Marbella and San Pedro to combat loneliness and foster connections.

To learn more about current volunteering opportunities, from home visits and befriending to practical support and event assistance, interested individuals are invited to contact Age Concern Marbella-San Pedro directly.

Call the helpline on 689 35 51 98, open weekdays from 10am to 6pm, or email info@ageconcernmarbella.com with a daytime contact number. The team looks forward to welcoming new volunteers and working together to brighten the lives of older expats in the year ahead.
