With the forecast for a warm week ahead (after a cold weekend), plenty are expected to fill up the beaches of Fuengirola this Easter. So that everyone can enjoy a safer seaside escape, comprehensive rescue and first aid operations launch across local shores.

Early activation for peak holiday crowds

Services swing into action from Saturday 28 March, running daily without interruption until Sunday 5 April between 11am and 7pm. Coverage then shifts to weekends and public holidays, staying in place right until May 31. This timetable is in line with the rise in tourist numbers heading to the coast during the festive period.

Focus on beach recovery after winter storms.

Recent storms have battered stretches of shoreline, yet dedicated teams have worked flat out to restore areas and deliver the best conditions. Clean, well-prepared beaches now await holidaymakers eager to make the most of spring sunshine along the Mediterranean.

Team of 43 professionals on duty

A dedicated squad of 43 experts forms the backbone of operations this Holy Week. Roles range from coordinators and communications operators to full medical support, including a doctor, nurse and two emergency technicians. Additional personnel cover boat handling, roving lifeguards, watchtower duties, rescue modules and assisted bathing specialists.

Advanced equipment boosts response capabilities.

Ten surveillance towers, four rescue modules, a coordination hub and four adapted platforms for assisted bathing stand ready. Qualified staff handle bookings for the accessible swimming service via telephone on 691 102 985. Emergency assets include an advanced life support ambulance, a medically equipped buggy, a jet ski and a patrol boat, ensuring swift intervention anywhere along the coastline.

Seasonal rules and future plans

Pets face restrictions on beaches from the start of the bathing season, except within the designated dog-friendly zone bordering Mijas. High summer from 1 June brings extended hours until 20:00, more lifeguards reaching 55, and extra watercraft, including three jet skis.

Temporary access limitation near historic site

One small section of beach by the castle remains closed while coastal authorities complete repairs following storm damage, with reopening targeted as soon as possible.

Holidaymakers receive clear encouragement to check conditions, respect safety advice and book assisted bathing slots in advance where needed. Fuengirola positions itself firmly as a premier destination for safe, enjoyable Easter breaks on the Costa del Sol.
