Marbella youth department announces the spring programme Credit: Ayuntamiento de Marbella

The spring edition of ‘Plan Your Weekend’ has been announced for the young people in Marbella. The leisure programme is aimed at people aged between 14 and 35 run by the council’s Youth Department.

The initiative from the Marbella City Council offers a mix of organised outings and flexible activity vouchers across Malaga, with the goal of giving younger residents some healthy and entertaining ways to spend their free time during the spring months.

Councillor Alejandro Gonzalez says the programme is designed to respond to the needs of young people who remain in Marbella during this time of year and to provide them with a varied range of experiences to be sociable.

Free transport is provided to the activites

Some of the main activities on offer in the spring edition are a April 18 day trip including the Benalmadena cable car, Sea Life Benalmadena and the Sunview Park zipline in Alhaurin de la Torre. Free coach transport will be provided from Marbella and San Pedro Alcantara.

Other planned events include a visit to Aventura Amazonia on May 2, as well as karting competitions in Estepona on April 25 and Mijas on May 8. To add to the fun there are prizes available for participants.

This edition also introduces ‘bonos libres’ or ‘free bonus’ allowing young people to choose from a selection of experiences and use them more flexibly. Options include Laberintus Park in Humilladero, the Benalmadena Ferris wheel, Butterfly Park, Bioparc Fuengirola, Lobo Park in Antequera, the Automobile and Fashion Museum of Malaga, Cueva del Tesoro in Rincon de la Victoria and dolphin-watching trips from Benalmadena.

Applicants are being advised to choose their activities carefully

Applications must be made through the Marbella City Council website, where people who are interested can register for the programme and select their preferred activities. Places are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so those applying are being advised to choose carefully and rank their options in order of preference.

To take part, applicants must make sure they meet the participation conditions set out by the council. In some cases, this includes providing parental authorisation for minors and proof of residence in Marbella or the municipality, depending on the activity. Participants are also reminded to bring any required documentation with them on the day of the event.

Each person may take part in one organised activity and one free bonus experience, unless extra places remain available. Once places have been confirmed, vouchers can be collected from the Youth Department or the Tourist Office in San Pedro Alcantara.

For more information or to register for the ‘Plan Your Weekend’ spring programme you can visit the council’s youth department area on the website.
