Casa Lola group has launched a new charity initiative in Malaga in collaboration with Marbella-born superhero parasurfer Sarah Almagro, with €1 donated for every special croquette sold to help support her international competition programme.

The campaign will run for three months and centres on a special limited-edition recipe personally created with Almagro. The official presentation was Tuesday 14 April at 11am at Casa Lola in Plaza Uncibay, Malaga, where Almagro and representatives of the hospitality group attended and spoke to the media about the project.

The croquette that has been created is inspired by one of Sarah’s favourite snacks

The croquette itself is designed as a personal nod to the athlete. Casa Lola says the recipe is inspired by ‘El cantinflas’, Almagro’s favourite pintxo. It combines beef kebab, chipotle mayonnaise, lime, coriander and crispy fried onion, elevating the recipe and giving it a more modern flavour profile than the traditional croquette.

The initiative also shines a light on Almagro’s incredible and emotional sporting career journey. In 2018, at the young age of 18, she suffered meningococcal meningitis with sepsis, leaving her in a 10-day induced coma which led to organ shock and resulting in the amputation of her hands and feet. She later returned to the sea and has since become a leading figure in adaptive surfing, competing internationally in the Prone 2 category and achieving multiple podium finishes at world-level events. Her story and achievements were recognised in 2024 when she received the Medalla de Andalucia del Deporte.

Sarah’s fight is a heroic and inspirational story

The collaboration is so important to highlight why Sarah Almagro resonates so strongly with the public and is a role model for younger audiences. Her story is something lived in publicly rebuilding a life, setting new goals and showing up day after day. For many young people who know Sarah’s story, she represents the idea that confidence and ambition do not disappear when circumstances change. Those wanting to follow Sarah’s ongoing journey should follow her social media channels.

Support is designed to be straightforward making it easy for money to be raised, order the charity croquette during the campaign period. Casa Lola says the charity croquette will be available in all of its establishments, and €1 per unit sold will be donated to Sarah Almagro’s future sporting programme.

The campaign is running for 3 months at the Casa Lola group restaurants. For their locations and details visit the website.
