Food lovers in Ondara have a new reason to plan their spring evenings, as the town’s much-loved tapas route returns for 2026 – promising weeks of flavour, community and unbeatable value.

Running from Thursday May 7 to Thursday June 25, the “Ondara es destapa” route transforms Thursdays into a weekly celebration of local gastronomy, inviting residents and visitors alike to sample creative small plates across the town.

A Thursday ritual built around food and community

Unlike traditional food festivals confined to a single weekend, this route stretches across nearly two months, taking place every Thursday evening. The format encourages a slower, more social experience: one that blends dining with discovery as participants move between venues.

Each stop offers a specially created tapa paired with a drink, all for a fixed price of just €4, making it both accessible and appealing.

The initiative has been designed not only to showcase culinary talent, but to create a weekly meeting point – turning ordinary evenings into lively, shared experiences across the town.

Ten local venues, one shared showcase

This year, ten bars and restaurants are taking part, each contributing their own signature bite. From traditional Spanish flavours to more international influences, the route reflects the diversity of Ondara’s hospitality scene.

Participating venues include a mix of long-standing favourites and newer establishments, all united by the same concept: to offer something distinctive that encourages visitors to explore multiple stops over the course of the evening.

The format also supports local businesses by increasing footfall and visibility during the spring season: a key moment before the summer tourism peak.

Vote, explore and win

Beyond simply tasting, the route adds an interactive element. Diners are encouraged to vote for their three favourite tapas, turning the experience into a friendly competition among venues.

Those who complete the route, collecting stamps along the way, will be entered into a prize draw, with the chance to win a dinner for two at the winning restaurant. Entry forms must be submitted after completing the full circuit, extending the experience beyond a single evening.

More than a food event

At its core, “Ondara es destapa” is about more than just tapas. The initiative forms part of a broader effort to support local commerce and strengthen community life, encouraging people to engage with neighbourhood businesses and rediscover the town’s social rhythm.

By stretching the event across multiple weeks, organisers have created a format that feels both relaxed and repeatable — one that invites people back time and again.

As spring unfolds, Ondara isn’t just serving food… it’s serving an experience, one Thursday at a time.
