The Club de Golf Desert Springs Resort has once again reinforced its long-standing commitment to local charitable work with new donations to two key organisations in Cuevas del Almanzora. The latest contributions highlight the club’s continued focus on supporting vulnerable groups in the region through sustained fundraising efforts.
This week, Golf Captain Sue Garrod presented €1,500 to the Association of People with Disabilities of Cuevas del Almanzora (AMCAL) and a further €1,500 to the local branch of the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC). Both organisations play a vital role in providing essential services and emotional support within the community.
Fundraising through golf¡
The donations are the result of a busy programme of fundraising activities organised by club members. Charity golf tournaments, themed dinners, auctions and social gatherings have all contributed to the growing fund.
Between April 2025 and April 2026, Desert Springs Resort raised €17,500 for AMCAL and €2,250 for the AECC. This marks one of the club’s most successful fundraising periods to date, reflecting strong participation from members and supporters alike.
Supporting disability and cancer services
For AMCAL, which represents 110 members, the funds will help support daily activities, educational programmes, cultural trips and outings. These initiatives are central to promoting independence, inclusion and improved quality of life for people with disabilities in the area.
Meanwhile, the AECC will use its donation to enhance its accompaniment and support services for cancer patients and their families, ensuring continued care and assistance throughout difficult times.
Long-term commitment to local community
Club representatives have confirmed that this charitable work will continue, with a new fundraising cycle planned from April 2026 to April 2027. The aim is to further expand support for local organisations in the years ahead.
Cuevas del Almanzora mayor Antonio Fernández has also praised the club’s ongoing generosity, recognising its positive impact on the local community and its role in strengthening social cohesion across the municipality.
