Aquatropic, Spain’s only saltwater waterpark and a tropical landmark, will reopen for the 2026 season on Friday, June 12. The park is unveiling a hugely upgraded children’s area to improve safety, visibility, and family comfort.

New interactive water features and family areas for 2026

Park manager Vicente Barbero confirmed that this year’s investment focuses entirely on younger visitors. New features include an “aquatic hornet’s nest” that sprays jets in multiple directions so children can play without entering the pool, a corridor-style splash zone running the full length of the paddling pool, and a large giraffe figure shooting water from its horns.

Responding to parent feedback, Aquatropic has also introduced a new VIP family area positioned higher up the park. Barbero acknowledged that the existing premium zone near the wave pool was too far from where parents spent their day. The new elevated space remedies this, offering clear sightlines to the children’s slides alongside sunbeds, a table, chairs, a personal locker, and a dedicated fridge.

Record group bookings signal a busy summer season

Early demand for the park is strong. School and leisure group bookings have already surpassed previous years, with up to eight groups expected on-site simultaneously during June. These school groups typically make up 80–90% of early-season attendance before national and international tourism peaks. July and August will see peak crowds arriving from across Granada, Jaen, Malaga, and Almeria, joined by heavy foreign tourism.

What else can I expect at the waterpark

As well as the new children’s zone, Aquatropic’s 35,000-square-metre coastal site features a wave pool, kamikaze and black hole slides, a jacuzzi, picnic areas, and restaurants. Non-water attractions like trampolines, an inflatable castle, and table football are also available.

Aquatropic is located on Paseo Reina Sofia in Almuñecar, it has on-site parking and direct access via bus line No. 3. The park operates daily from 11am to 7pm, from June through to early September.
